ICON GLOSSARYMap Tools Zoom In to the area of interest and click a map tool button located at the top of the map window. The activated tool button will change in appearance. The cursor will also change in appearance. Click a specific area on the map window according to the instructions below. Upon completion, the Info Box will open the Products in Selected Area drawer.
Box Zoom Tool:
Click the Box Zoom Tool button to isolate and zoom in on a rectangular area on the map. Click the map window
and continue to hold the left mouse button while moving on a diagonal to form a blue rectangle on the map
window. Release the left mouse button to automatically zoom to the highlighted area.
Tile Selection Tool:
The Tile Selection Tool will assist the user to locate a specific point on the map window. Click the
Tile Selection Tool button. Click the point of interest on the map window. A fixed flag image will remain
on the map to indicate the selection point.
Multiple Tile Selection Tool:
Click the Multiple Tile Selection Tool button to populate a list of available product tiles that overlap
the selected area on the map browser, in the Info Box. Click the map window and continue to hold the
left mouse button while moving on a diagonal to form a yellow rectangle on the map window. Release the left
mouse button to reveal the product list in the Info Box.
Box Selection Tool:
Click the Box Selection Tool button to highlight a rectangular area of interest on the map window and
reveal products available within the selected area. Click the map window and continue to hold the left
mouse button while moving on a diagonal to form a yellow rectangle on the map window. Release the left
mouse button to reveal the product list in the Info Box.
Polygon Selection Tool:
To isolate a specific area of irregular shape and reveal products within the selected area, click the
Polygon Selection Tool button.
- To create a perimeter around a specific area on the map window, click an outer corner of the area to be outlined. A yellow square will appear on the map to indicate the selection point.
- Move the cursor to another point along the perimeter of the area of interest. A dotted line will link the cursor to the yellow square as the cursor rolls across the map browser. Click a second point on the map. Another yellow square will appear and a solid yellow line is created between the two squares to indicate the perimeter line.
- Continue selecting perimeter points. There is no limit to the size or shape of the polygonal area.
- Click the original yellow square to close the polygon. The surface area of the completed polygon will automatically be highlighted in yellow.
Once the polygon is completed, the product list will display in the Info Box.
Note: To make adjustments to a polygon after the Info Box list has been populated, roll the cursor over the polygon
on the map window to reveal additional yellow squares in the centre of each perimeter line. Drag the square and
release to create two new perimeter lines attached by a yellow square marking the release point.
Upload Shapefile Selection Tool:
Click the Upload Shapefile Selection Tool button to select an area of interest using a zipped shape
file. A window will open on the map browser. Enter the filename or click the Browse button to select
the file. Click the Upload button to proceed. The zip file will be processed and a selection will be made,
returning a list of data available within your area of interest.
Note: The minimum required files within the zip are .shp, .shx, .dbf. The shape file
must contain a simple single polygon in latitude / longitude projection (EPSG 4326).
Tile Identify Tool:
Click the Query Tool button to reveal detailed descriptions of available products for a specific area of
interest. Once the button is selected, click the area of interest on the map window. A window will open
to reveal product information.
Help:
This tool toggles this help window on and off. The topic is highlighted in blue on the left. Clicking
on the "X" button at the top right of this window will also close the Help Window.
Google Navigation Tools
Pan Points
Click an arrow at the top of the navigation panel to shift the map view in the direction
indicated by the arrow without adjusting the scale of the map view.
Slider Bar
Click and drag the slider bar upwards and downwards on the slider track to zoom in and zoom out, respectively.
Zoom Buttons
Click the plus and minus buttons located at the top and bottom ends of the Slider Bar to Zoom In (+) and Zoom Out (-). You can also click the individual tic marks to zoom to that specific scale.
Zoom Scroll:
If your mouse is equipped with a scroll wheel, you can use it to zoom in or out on the location
of the cursor on the map. Scrolling forward will zoom in and scrolling backward will zoom out.
Reset Map
Click the middle button at the top of the navigational control to restore the map view to its
original settings and display.
Available Products:
Open the Product Coverage drawer to view available mapped areas found within the data store. Open product category folders to view the listing.
Products in Selected Area
After making a selection with one of the selection tools, the Products in Selected Area drawer will open to display available products for the selected area. Open the Product Category folders to show the products. Hovering over the individual product items will highlight the item in red and will also highlight the corresponding selection in the map viewer in red.
Shopping Cart
Opening the Shopping Cart drawer will display the individual items and the corresponding prices of products previously added to the shopping cart. The Zoom To Item and Delete From Cart icons are also present. The shopping cart items will remain in the cart until they are deleted from the cart or purchased.
Order History
Previous data store purchases are displayed in the Order History drawer. The date, order number, and number of items in the order are listed.
Search
Opening the Search drawer displays a text field and Search button which performs a Google search on the text entered. The user may enter specific information into the text box such as an address (ex. 24 Sussex Dr.), intersection (Yonge St. and King St. West), place (Central Park, or city (Munich, Germany) Google performs a localized search meaning that if you are zoomed in to the state of Maine and do a search on Portland, it will locate Portland, Maine. If you zoomed in to the state of Oregon and do a search on Portland, it will locate Portland, Oregon. Specifying the city and state will return the correct location regardless of your location in the map viewer.

Expand Group: Click to expand a grouping of data.

Collapse Group: Click to collapse a grouping of data.

Zoom To Item: Click to zoom the map browser to the corresponding item.

Show Grid: Click to outline the corresponding item/group on the map browser.

Hide Grid: Click to remove the outline for the corresponding item/group on the map browser.

Add To Cart: Click to add the corresponding item to your shopping cart (must be logged in).

Item In Cart: Designates that the corresponding item is already in your shopping cart or your user access level does not permit you to add the item to your cart.

Delete From Cart: Click to remove the corresponding item from your shopping cart.

Product Information: Click to get more information about the product.
